April 15, 2008 >>> Belgrade Marathon

Dr. Vladimir Aleksic, PhD, who lives in London for the last seven years has initiated a donor humanitarian action dedicated to the project 'Support to Education of Roma Children''. He is going to participate in Belgrade marathon on 19 April 2008 and collect donor funds for the mentioned project that NSHC implements voluntarily for four years. Andrej Jonovic and Graeme Semon from London have joined Vladimir in this initiative. About his motives Vladimir says: ''Through participation in Belgrade marathon and through initiation of this humanitarian action I want to contribute to awareness raising in our society about the need for this kind of individual activities. Various humanitarian projects can be supported through similar actions, which is already a common thing abroad. I also believe that making a connection between large sport manifestations, such as Belgrade marathon, and donor humanitarian actions, is an ideal opportunity to collect donations and to inform people about current problems in a society and ways for their solving. With this initiative I want to contribute to the efforts of NSHC volunteers to give a chance to poor Roma children so they could gain a minimum of knowledge and skills needed for their independent living in the future.'
